The goal of the culinary diplomacy program was to promote a sustainable food chain and culinary entrepreneurship. As part of this initiative, Chef Mary Sue Milliken hosted a climate-friendly cooking competition, where students prepared dishes using ingredients that are environmentally sustainable and often considered "food waste" by many people in their daily lives.
The competition results were judged by Nina Hachigian, the Special Representative for City and State Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State, who was in Armenia on an official visit; Chef Mary Sue Milliken; and Chef Karen Khachatryan, head of the Culinary Arts educational programs at Yeremyan Academy.
"I am delighted and impressed by the students and the Yeremyan Academy. This academy is in no way inferior to the educational institutions I have visited in the U.S. I was very excited to try the dishes prepared by the students. They shone in the competition with their creativity and knowledge. I gained a lot of satisfaction from the experience. They possess many professional skills that they can already apply in practice," said Chef Mary Sue Milliken.
